Basic Face Makeup Application for Beginners

Let’s ‘Face’ the Essentials!

Foundations, powders, concealers, eyeshadows, lashes, lipsticks, and liners…Oh, my! The world of makeup can seem overwhelming, especially if you are a newcomer. The list of products and the numerous brands to choose from is really endless and can leave you feeling at a loss. However, venturing into makeup doesn’t have to be a daunting task. The key is to start building your makeup kit with some basic items so you can get started the right way.

If you are new to makeup, you may not be aware of the importance of using the right tools to apply the product. For example, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is trying to use the applicators that come in the compacts at the drug store. While these types of tools may work in a pinch, they shouldn’t be your go-to applicators. It is really important to invest in quality brushes so that your makeup goes on flawlessly and blends easily.

The makeup brushes that are absolute must-haves in your kit are:

  • A Flat Foundation Brush
  • A Flat Concealer Brush
  • A Blush Brush
  • A Large Fluffy Powder Brush
  • A Flat Eyeshadow Brush
  • A Crease Brush
  • And A Fluffy Eye Shadow Brush For Blending

There are many other brushes to add to your kit as you become more skilled, but these are great for starters. You can visit any Ulta or Sephora store for assistance on picking these out.

Once you have your brushes, you want to make sure that you have the following in your makeup bag: a quality liquid foundation in a shade that matches your skin tone perfectly; a cream concealer that completely covers dark circles and other skin imperfections; a setting powder for your concealer; a matte powder to set your foundation, and a neutral blush. The top brands that I recommend are Bobbi Brown, MAC, and Makeup Forever. I find that these three brands have the best quality foundations, variety of shades, and consistency.

Many women don’t have time to do extensive eye makeup in the mornings because they are on the go. Unless you are proficient in creating a perfect smoky eye or multicolored look in less than 20 minutes, most likely you will opt for a more basic makeup look that is natural, yet polished. One of the current trends for the spring is very natural looking makeup, black eyeliner, and a nude lip. This look is easy to achieve and doesn’t take long. Always make sure your skin is clean, moisturized, and primed for your foundation.

The first thing I typically do in my makeup routine is shape my eyebrows. After that, I apply the concealer under my eyes to get rid of any dark circles. Next, I apply liquid foundation by dispensing a few pumps of the product on the back of my hand and picking up the product with my foundation brush. I apply it all over my face to the desired coverage, making sure to blend it all the way out toward my hairline and past my jaw line so that it looks natural.

After foundation is applied, you will want to set the concealer under your eyes by using a loose translucent setting powder, such as MAC Prep and Prime Finishing powder. Then, I set my foundation by buffing a matte powder into my skin with a large fluffy powder brush or flat top buffing brush. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, line your eyes with black eyeliner, a few coats of mascara, and swipe your lips with some nude gloss. You will be ready to head out the door in less than 20 minutes!

Putting on a fresh face for the day doesn’t have to be complicated. As you start out with an easy, breezy look like this, you will find yourself wanting to experiment with different looks and possibly add color to your makeup “wardrobe”. There are two rules in the world of makeup; make sure that your makeup is properly applied and most importantly, have fun!

Dare to ‘play’ with makeup… and see how good you feel!

Four Attractive Bun Hairstyle Ideas to Try

Buns will always be one of the hottest hair craze plus they are not gonna stop being so trendy soon! You can wear a bun with any outfit and for every occasion and the best part is that it is extremely simple to make! Almost every time you need just a hair donut, a hair tie and a few bobby pins to set everything ready. There are four kinds of buns that every ladies must wear at least once - the braided bun, the strict bun, the high bun and the messy bun. And because I am a fan of experimenting and trying different things, I am going to give you tips on how to do and style these easy buns!

The Messy Bun

The messy bun is the cool version of the strict bun. Apply it the same way, however this time do not secure everything with bobby pins and hair spray and mess it up a little bit. You can even allow it to be with no hair bun (just collect your hair in a ponytail, twist it and pin it on your head) and you should get a possibly messier bun. It’s stunning for school where you want to appear comfortable but extremely cute; whenever you add some daring bigger earrings you can transform it into the best night hairstyle or simply put some pajama pants on, call your buddies and watch movies all night, rocking a pretty messy bun!

The Braided Bun

The braided bun is definitely one of my personal favorites in terms of updos - it’s so feminine and classic that you could simply use it on every occasion and with any kind of outfit! It’s super easy to do - simply make a ponytail, braid it until the end and twist it therefore it turns into a bun. Apply bobby pins and clear hair ties when it’s needed to secure it and bam you’re ready to go! - You’re done! I will style this hair do with a girly floral dress, ballerina flats and an adorable cardigan to match the future fall season. You can dress it up with a long evening dress having an open back and a few fashionable long earrings.

The Strict Bun

The strict bun is one of simple kind of buns. To make it you just have to create a hair bun, roll it on your hair (before that, you need to collect your hair into a ponytail), adjust it so your hair covers almost everything and safe with bobby pins. You should ensure it is very tight and use hair spray to sleek it out. The strict bun is ideal for an office environment where you have to get simple, but polished look without having something fancy or special. Style it with a pair of stud earrings and you are done! Also you can use this style of bun whenever you are doing exercise to get your hair away from your face.

The High Bun

The high bun is simply a messy bun yet put very high on your head. It’s done similar to the way (simply, as I said, you should make the ponytail very high) and it has already been a more ideal look for many celebrities and models this summer. The high bun is the a lot more stylish version of a normal bun and therefore you can wear it in several other ways - my favorite combination for the winter season is with leather coat, distressed jeans and biker footwear. To make the look much more girly you can include a floral shirt below or some elegance jewelry - the conflict between the manly leather and the feminine accessories is extremely “in” today!
